In 1967, when I was working among very young children in a nursery, I noticed that I was gradually losing use of my arms. By the end of the week I had to stop work. Feeling fearful, I rang a Christian Science practitioner for treatment. He spoke to me reassuringly of God's sustaining power and reminded me that God is good and God is All, and that man is God's reflection. He quoted statements from the Bible and the Christian Science textbook, Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy.
At that time I had been accepted for class instruction by a teacher of Christian Science, and had preliminary study to do, and a long journey ahead of me to reach the class.
I began to lose the use of my legs as well, and had great difficulty in getting out of bed. The practitioner visited me nearly every day. We studied and discussed the weekly Bible Lessons in the Christian Science Quarterly, and he encouraged me to prepare for the coming class.
