Mary Baker Eddy writes in the textbook, Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures (p. vii): "To those leaning on the sustaining infinite, to-day is big with blessings."
With ineffable joy I can affirm this fact. Through a relative my family and I came to know of Christian Science in 1936. I began a very searching study of the textbook of Christian Science. This study of the book by Mrs. Eddy gave my life new meaning. First, it freed me from smoking. Later, in 1946, it sustained me when we were expelled from our homeland and came to Germany with few possessions and little money. Here we were housed in separate quarters. Through these circumstances my trust in regard to Christian Science was put to a severe test.
I remained steadfast to God because I had come to realize that this was the right way, the one I had to walk in the future. In this I leaned especially on the words of the Bible (Isa. 41:10): "Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness."
