While I was in my teens, my father passed on a few days after an accident. After this, I was terrified of being alone, even in the daytime. My mother took me to two doctors, who said all they could do was give me a drug morning and night.
When someone suggested we try Christian Science, my mother remembered that a friend of hers in Durban was a Christian Science practitioner. So we went to her, and after three weeks of treatment through prayer I was completely healed. Later, Mother located the Christian Science church in Durban, and we went to our first service. My young sisters and I began attending Sunday School. The training I received there has helped me a lot.
Over the years I have had many healings. Perhaps one of the most outstanding was in 1945 when I had a healing of what appeared to be a malignant growth on my leg. It was not healed quickly, but finally I reached the realization that divine Mind was protecting me and caring for all my needs. I asked for two weeks' leave from work for prayer and Christian Science study. Just before the two weeks were up, I knew I was really healed, although the appearance of the leg was worse. I was not impressed, for I knew error sometimes screams the loudest when it is being destroyed. The physical healing was soon evident and has been permanent.
