A Newspaper to Cherish

What is the most important thing about The Christian Science Monitor? Its prestige in journalistic and academic circles? The respect it receives in government offices? Its decency and dependability? Its appearance, which has won so many awards over the years?

These and many other assets have always been potent selling points, as well as cause for gratitude among Christian Scientists. Church members enjoy knowing that the Monitor is widely admired even though it is not as widely read as it deserves.

But what is the real nub of the Monitor's value? And why must Christian Scientists never falter in their love for and support of their newspaper? There is just one unchanging factor, and it is all-important— the Monitor's mission as an organ of the Church of Christ, Scientist.
