Christian Science, for me, is the most beautiful thing in the world, because it has fulfilled my longing to experience something heavenly. How did I come to this wonderful, practical religion? It was through God's goodness and guidance.
During the First World War my father became very ill. I asked, "Why can't people heal the way Christ Jesus healed?" Answer: "That was in the past!" After that, I saw the cross and crown emblem on some Christian Science literature in a library. I was so shy that I did not check into it any further. When I wanted to find it again, all searching was fruitless. But I had a firm expectation that I would come across it once more.
Right after the close of the Second World War I was finally led to Christian Science, and I recognized with a humble and thankful heart the unforgotten emblem of the cross and crown on the writings of Mrs. Eddy. I studied these writings with great devotion and enthusiasm. I am deeply grateful for membership in The Mother Church, for class instruction from a devoted teacher, and for working in a group of Christian Scientists, where I was privileged to serve as Second Reader.
