Overcoming False Suggestions That Would Keep Us from a Fuller Practice

[This is the first of three talks given at the Special Interest Session on "Practicing Christian Science," following the Annual Meeting of The Mother Church on June 7, 1976. The other talks by Alan A. Aylwin and Lela May Aultman will be printed, in the November and December issues.]

From the October 1976 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Spiritual healing has always been inseparable from Christianity. When Mrs. Eddy discovered the Science of Christianity, she not only restored the lost element of spiritual healing; she also discovered the spiritual tools with which to destroy, systematically and scientifically, the suggestions that would prevent us from practicing Christian healing.

Nevertheless, we still don't always handle these beliefs properly, and so our purpose today is to remind ourselves that we know how to heal and that we can and will overcome the false suggestions which would keep us from practicing.

Error is very repetitious. All its false suggestions boil down to three arguments: I won't, I can't, and I don't know.
