A man came into a Reading Room wanting "the little book with the cross and crown." The librarian, naturally, thought he meant Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy. But the man pointed to a Sentinel and said, "There it is!" He said he was given one in prison and wanted to read more.
More people all the time, in many parts of the world, are becoming interested in Christian Science through contacts with institution committee workers and the literature they make available to various mental hospitals and penal institutions. And those who find Christian Science in such an environment seem eager to share with others.
For instance, at an Ohio prison an inmate, whose sunny, joyful sense of Science is outstanding, has been sharing clippings from the Monitor with a troubled social worker—which is an interesting reversal of roles. The social worker, we've since learned, has been given a copy of Science and Health and a subscription to the Monitor. And many are the cases where one inmate, given a textbook, will let another read it, and soon several in the same cellblock will be meeting with the institutional worker, attending weekly services, and studying the Lesson-Sermon. Many fine healings are being reported, too.
