One of my first recognizable healings as a relatively new student in Christian Science was the glorious freedom from migraine headaches. And the healing was instantaneous.
These attacks would occur every two or three weeks, and although I managed to remain at work during the day, I would be completely incapacitated by nightfall. On one occasion I returned home from work and couldn't even bear the thought of eating the good dinner my wife had prepared but went straight to the bedroom, picking up Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy on the way. What made the illness doubly disappointing was that we had been invited to a friend's home for what promised to be a unique evening.
I lay down on the bed still holding Science and Health in my hand. I was there only a moment when I was aroused by the thought, "You're not going to accomplish any good lying there, you must read the book." I sat up for a moment, read a sentence or two, closed my eyes, and fell back onto the bed. Again the still, small voice said, "You must read the book." And again I sat up and read.
