Several years ago, when driving from...

From the November 1976 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Several years ago, when driving from our country home to the city, I was involved in a collision on a four-lane highway. From this time on I remember nothing about the accident except what was told to me by my husband and a Christian Science practitioner.

When I arrived at the hospital, my husband was notified. He called a Christian Science practitioner for help. Together they came directly to the hospital. They were told I had suffered concussion and brain damage, as well as internal injuries. The hospital authorities were immediately informed we were Christian Scientists, and we requested that no further medication be given. The practitioner stayed with me through the night and until I regained consciousness and was free of pain and shock.

The doctors were amazed that after three days, at my husband's request, I was able to be released from the hospital to enter a sanatorium for Christian Scientists near our home. I spent only three days in the sanatorium and then was able to come home completely healed, and to resume my regular household duties.
