Someone once wisely said, "It is not he who has little but he who wants more who is poor." Not that there is any special virtue in having little. Many people have found, however, that the constant desire for more and more material riches, pleasures, and accomplishments has brought them unfulfillment and a feeling of emptiness. Such was the case of the princely Preacher in the Bible who finally concluded: "Then I looked on all the works that my hands had wrought, and on the labour that I had laboured to do: and, behold, all was vanity and vexation of spirit, and there was no profit under the sun."Eccl. 2:11;
The Bible indicates that real satisfaction is found through an understanding of God and of man's true relationship with Him. The Psalmist wrote, "I shall be satisfied, when I awake, with thy likeness."Ps. 17:15;
Christian Science corroborates in healing the scriptural revelation that man is created in God's image, and shows how we can find satisfaction and happiness within ourselves as we awake to our spiritual identity as God's reflection. As the forever likeness of the one God, divine Spirit, man is not a material entity with mortal traits and desires, driven by personal will and capable of wrongdoing. He is entirely spiritual, limitless, incorporeal, and free. He is invariably pure, whole, and satisfied. This man God made never declines, decays, or dies, but is always vitally alive, active, intelligent, useful, joyful, and fulfilled. As God's perfect, complete idea, man is always supplied by God, Spirit, by whom he is sustained and maintained.
