Although I had had a deep trust in God since my youth, I longed for a religion that would fully satisfy me. Many years ago I received a copy of The Herald of Christian Science with the words: "This is something for you. Read it." My husband and I both read it and immediately were interested in Science. We were shown how to study the weekly Lesson-Sermon in the Christian Science Quarterly. Our boy went joyfully and regularly to Sunday School, and we, also with much joy, attended the beautiful church services. Grateful to have found what we had always longed for, we very soon became members of a branch Church of Christ, Scientist.
At that time we were expecting our second child. According to all appearances, I was supposed to lose this child, but I clung to the thought of God's care for both the child and me when troubles threatened to intrude, and I experienced a harmonious delivery. I am also very grateful for Christian Science help at the birth of our third child.
When our youngest child was five years old, a car threw him several meters as he was running across the street after a friend. He was unconscious when I ran and took him in my arms, and my only thought was: "Child of God, safe in Thy love." When my husband saw us, he immediately called a Christian Science practitioner, who prayerfully helped us and gave us a few passages from the Bible and from Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy to hold to for the child.
The doctor, called in by the driver of the car, gently asked the child, "What's the matter with you?" He answered, "Nothing at all." This relieved me very much, and I thought, "That's true." The doctor was surprised that the boy had only a few minor abrasions although the car had a considerable number of dents.
The following day the boy had a high temperature and did not retain any food. We pondered the passages indicated to us by the practitioner until late in the night: "And God saw every thing that he had made, and, behold, it was very good" (Gen. 1:31) and the answer to the question "What is man?" from Science and Health (p. 475). The significance of "Christ" meant a lot to me (ibid., p. 583): "The divine manifestation of God, which comes to the flesh to destroy incarnate error." Fervently I prayed to God to understand the healing effect of the Christ. Then I distinctly felt in my heart, "He is healed." When I looked at the little one, he was sleeping peacefully and normally. Our gratitude and joy were indescribably great. The next day he was playing in the yard, and the healing was permanent.
Once when I poured boiling fat on the palm of my hand, I was healed as I refused to look at the hand in spite of the pain. Instead, I continued to ponder the Bible and Science and Health. The next morning, when I looked at the hand, it was like the other, no sign of redness could be seen.
More than twenty years have now passed in which we have not used a drug or any other material remedy, and in each situation have relied on Christian Science. My deep gratitude goes to God and all individuals through whose work our beneficial religion has been revealed and is effective.

I would like to confirm the above testimony of my wife about our son's healing when he was hit by a car. I was filled with unspeakable gratitude and joy when we saw him completely well. I had been without sleep for forty-eight hours, yet I felt no weariness.
When more than twenty years ago I first read Science and Health I was healed of an obstinate stomach complaint without any other help. Since then there have been no more difficulties.
I am grateful to God with all my heart for Christ Jesus, for Mrs. Eddy, the Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science, for all provisions of The Mother Church, and that I am able to participate in branch church work.
