We are glad to announce that Michael B. Thorneloe, C. S. B., of Sheffield, England, has been elected as a member of The Christian Science Board of Directors, effective January 1, 1979. Mr. Thorneloe succeeds our dear friend and colleague, Charles Louis Reilly, C. S. B., who is retiring from the Board of Directors in order to return to the fulltime practice and teaching of Christian Science in Los Angeles.
We deeply appreciate the significant contribution Mr. Reilly has made to The Mother Church as a member of this Board, and prior to that as Manager of the Department of Branches and Practitioners, as a member of the Board of Lectureship, and as Committee on Publication for Southern California. He brought to the work of our Board long and highly valued experience in the Field, and he returns there in fulfillment of a desire he has held for some time.
Mr. Thorneloe became interested in Christian Science when he was a young boy as a result of a healing he had received. He entered the full-time practice of Christian Science in 1962 and became an authorized teacher in 1967. He had earlier graduated from the University of Sheffield, served in the Royal Air Force, and for ten years was a senior partner in a private law firm. At the time of his election to this Board, Mr. Thorneloe was serving as a member of the Board of Lectureship. Prior to that he served The Mother Church as the International Department's Area Manager for Great Britain and Ireland for ten years, and as Committee on Publication for Yorkshire for five years. He has also made significant contributions to the Cause of Christian Science as chairman of The Christian Science Monitor Coordinating Team for the British Isles, and as a frequent participant in "The Bible Speaks to You" and "The Truth That Heals" radio series. Mr. Thorneloe will continue to teach his classes and conduct his association meetings in England.
