"Spiritual progress requires quiet inner listening and obedience to 'the "still, small voice" of Truth,' and willingness to put off the stridency and harshness of human ways and means in order to obey Truth's directing." In their report to members attending this year's Annual Meeting, The Christian Science Board of Directors said, "There's something refreshing about the picture of Christian Scientists, sleeves rolled up, mentally coming to grips with hard theological, economic, and social issues. There is something encouraging about Christian Scientists reasoning spiritually, sorting out all the ramifications of how the human and the divine are brought into coincidence through the Christ, and then forging out lives which are more clearly Christlike."
The theme of the meeting, held in Boston on Monday, June 4, was "Our Leader's Vision for Today." Related inspirational meetings were held Tuesday morning and Tuesday evening.
