Drop it!

From the August 1979 issue of The Christian Science Journal

If you picked up a hot pan, you would drop it—and fast. Through Christian Science we can develop the ability to separate the real from the unreal and learn to drop discords just as spontaneously and quickly.

"The relinquishment of error deprives material sense of its false claims," Science and Health, p. 7; Mrs. Eddy observes.

So much of the time, without meaning to, we may cling to problems—physical, social, business, professional, and those having to do with church or relationships. We need to face evil of every nature with the clear realization of a truth to counteract the situation. Mrs. Eddy outlines this approach: "Inspired thought relinquishes a material, sensual, and mortal theory of the universe, and adopts the spiritual and immortal." ibid., p. 547; One definition of "relinquish" includes "to abandon." Researching Mrs. Eddy's writings for references to "relinquish" and its derivatives is certainly enlightening. A deep hungering after the truth will lead us to the perception of the counter fact in every challenging situation.
