Man cannot be stricken

From the August 1979 issue of The Christian Science Journal


Understanding the above statement heals.

Because Life, God, is infinite good, there is no evil, and man, God's expression, cannot be stricken with disease or misfortune. Man's relation to Life as Life's perfect idea cannot be ruptured.

If these statements sound ideal but impractical, perhaps we're giving the term "Life" less than its actual significance as a synonym for the one, all-powerful God. There is biblical authority for defining Life as God. In Deuteronomy we read, "He is thy life, and the length of thy days." Deut. 30:20; And the Apostle Paul later averred, "In him we live, and move, and have our being." Acts 17:28; Rightly defined, Life includes nothing unlike God, eternal good. Mrs. Eddy writes, "The word Life never means that which is the source of death, and of good and evil." Retrospection and Introspection, p. 59;
