True growth is spiritual unfoldment

From the August 1979 issue of The Christian Science Journal

God is self-revealing Mind, unfolding Truth, eternally perfect. Infinite Mind must create unceasingly. Does God grow? No, for God is always All-in-all. Nor does Godlike man grow in the comparative, measurable sense that mortals define as growth. (Normal human growth patterns, however, are expected concomitants of growing spiritual understanding.)

So what grows? We grow to realize our immortal status in divine reality, through developing our spiritual sense and spiritual understanding. We grow in godliness until we really accept God and His ideal creation as all that ever did exist or could exist.

How do we account for what we see as abnormal growth?
