Spiritual gravitation

From the August 1979 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Before pictures were shown of the effects of weightlessness, most people were quite sure that if they tipped over a glass of water, it would spill on the floor. Now they are not quite so sure. A new dimension has been opened up to them.

Similarly, many people believe that thought easily responds to the lowest appeal and is pulled down by it. But Christian Science opens up a spiritual dimension of thought out of reach of downward-pulling influences. "There is but one real attraction, that of Spirit. The pointing of the needle to the pole symbolizes this all-embracing power or the attraction of God, divine Mind," Science and Health, p. 102; explains Mrs. Eddy.

Material attraction is feeble—actually powerless—when compared with the spiritual. Spiritual gravitation is the upward attraction of Spirit asserting itself in human consciousness. It lifts us by revealing man's true nature to be wholly spiritual, forever held in Spirit, God.
