Christ-healing— a great resource

From the February 1981 issue of The Christian Science Journal

The world has an inexhaustible resource that it has only begun to tap. This resource can supply every need, satisfy every longing, heal every disease. It is God, divine Truth, and His eternal Christ, explained in Christian Science. Mrs. Eddy writes, "When the Science of being is universally understood, every man will be his own physician, and Truth will be the universal panacea." Science and Health, p. 144. The spiritual method has been challenged today, as it was in the time of Christ Jesus.

The Christian Science movement has built a record of proof. Christian Science Reading Rooms have bound volumes of literature containing testimonies of healing dating back nearly a century. Although yesterday's healings and instances of protection are important, today's developing medical methodology must be met by our rising to more and higher spiritual proofs. We need to gain a broader and more inclusive sense of the worldwide mission of Christ-healing.

We can pray for the world and our community by knowing that God, good, fills all space. We can continue our prayer and treat broad discords—war and famine, for instance—by reversing the images of material sense, by knowing their nothingness. Where individuals are concerned, we can love our neighbor through prayer; but of course we don't treat our neighbors in Christian Science without their permission.
