When I was a child of five, my mother, in seeking peace because of our broken home, had the wonderful privilege of taking class instruction in Christian Science. The next several years of my life were spent living with relatives, and there was much moving about. But my dear mother always made certain I attended a Christian Science Sunday School—which I did until I was twenty.
When I was twelve my mother remarried. We had a lovely home, and I received a fine education. But the greatest gift was the tender Mother-love I felt from God, blessing me then and always. After my own marriage and the passing of my mother, we had financial troubles. However, I knew, as a dear Christian Science practitioner had once told me, "We have the right to expect infinite supply, which may come in unexpected ways." In my life this has proved true.
Although I had to earn wages from the time our son was five years old, this need forced me to place my trust squarely on God. As the first sentence in the Preface of Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy states (p. vii): "To those leaning on the sustaining infinite, to-day is big with blessings." My day-by-day leaning, learning, living, and loving enabled our son to have a fine college education, even though his father passed on before our son's senior year in high school. Today this son and his precious wife are class-taught students of Christian Science also.
