One sheep lost-and found

From the February 1982 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Once upon a day,
in my youthful naiveté,
I followed a flock of sheep—
and lost my way.
I didn't realize then
that sheep without a shepherd
are apt to go astray
and thus become the lion's prey.
But God be praised—dear Shepherd—
who rescued me from lion's cruel jaws
and brought me back on track.

It was then I made a vow—
which incidentally I still keep—
to follow the Shepherd,
and not the sheep!
