"A word fitly spoken"

From the October 1983 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Are you a little shy about speaking truth to another? Do you perhaps feel that if you did try to share the good news of God's love for man, you would meet with disbelief and personal rejection? I used to feel like that.

Even after I had become a student of Christian Science, for years I more or less kept it to myself. I faithfully studied the Lesson-Sermon in the Christian Science Quarterly, went to church, and enjoyed the blessings that flow from divine Truth and Love. But I was slow about speaking the truth to others. I was slow in letting my light shine.

As I grew in the awareness of my true manhood as the spiritual idea of God, I came to see that I was the representative of Deity—of Life, Truth, and Love— even God's agent. As such I existed to make evident my Principle. The fact that man is the very expression of God, of the one Mind, became a reality to me.
