A student of Christian Science had been struggling for quite some time with a combination of physical difficulties. She had worked prayerfully, long and hard, sometimes with the help of a Christian Science practitioner and sometimes praying alone to heal a condition that was affecting all five of the physical senses.
She was beginning to feel a sense of defeat, since she had been doing all she knew how to do, with little improvement. One morning as she prayed that God might show her what was wrong with her metaphysical work, she ran across these words in the Christian Science textbook (Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy): "The counter fact relative to any disease is required to cure it." Science and Health, p. 233.
"Just what are the counter facts relative to these claims?" she asked herself.
