Testimonies of Healing

From the November 1985 issue of The Christian Science Journal

To me the most wonderful thing in the world is knowing that no matter what problem confronts us, we have in Christian Science a practical, provable way to bring about healing—here and now. The only place we can find real answers is in divine Truth, which Science brings to light.

Over a year ago, when I was in the hospital during the birth of our first child, the doctor in attendance diagnosed that the baby was in "severe fetal distress." He predicted that she would not be able to endure more contractions at the rate things were going and said he felt strongly that a Caesarean section or other extra means would be necessary to prevent brain damage.

Now, I had been studying the Bible and the Christian Science textbook, Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, as well as Mrs. Eddy's other writings, throughout my pregnancy. I also had asked a Christian Science practitioner to prayerfully support me and the baby just before I went into the hospital. The medical prognosis motivated me more than ever to stick to what I knew was really going on: God's enfolding of this dear, precious child in His love. The appearing of this loved one could not be impeded in any way.
