Ever since I can remember, my family and I have relied on God for healing, comfort, and protection, with sure results. I hope this testimony will encourage others to experience these blessings for themselves through the study and practice of Christian Science.
While growing up, I rarely missed school because of illness, as any difficulty was always quickly healed through prayer. One childhood healing, which I remember very clearly, occurred during a summer vacation. My father, brother, and I were horseback riding when my horse broke away and began to gallop across a field. I was wearing loafers and, at one point, while my shoe stayed in the stirrup, my foot came out of the shoe and I fell off the horse. I do not remember getting back on the horse or riding to the car. The first thing I recall was being unable to open the car door because my arm was not functioning properly.
When we returned to the cottage where we were staying, I was experiencing symptoms of shock and could not lift my arm. My dad was very concerned, but he was willing for my mom and me to rely on Christian Science treatment for healing. Still, he felt that if there wasn't improvement soon, my arm should be X-rayed. (I have been so grateful that, while not a Christian Scientist, my dad always encouraged us in our demonstration of Science.)
