Time has not dimmed the gratitude I feel for a healing that took place many years ago.
It was obvious to my parents when I was a very small child that I had a goiter—an inherited condition with which my mother also suffered. My parents were not Christian Scientists at that time, but they were reluctant to submit me to surgery, having been led to believe that I would "outgrow" the condition.
Christian Science came into our lives shortly after I entered first grade. Very quickly I learned to trust God with such completeness that, throughout my school years, never did I doubt that God would heal me. Teachers repeatedly would question me to learn if my parents were taking any steps to rid me of this disfigurement, and I would answer "Yes." When asked "How?" I would say "Prayer" or "I know God will heal me." These statements seemed always to satisfy the questioner.
