You know what to do

From the June 1985 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Christian Science teaches that God is all-knowing. As the image of God, man reflects His infinite understanding. Therefore, in reality, you know whatever you need to know.

In Science, divine guidance does not mean that God has to make a decision and then impart it to man. God's work is done. Nothing can be added to it or taken away. Man's progress, then, is not a revision of or addition to the original intent. It is the unfolding of everlasting good according to God's unchanging law. Mrs. Eddy writes: "Man is the offspring and idea of the Supreme Being, whose law is perfect and infinite. In obedience to this law, man is forever unfolding the endless beatitudes of Being; for he is the image and likeness of infinite Life, Truth, and Love." Miscellaneous Writings, p. 82.

We are often challenged in our daily activities to choose between human alternatives. We may even find it necessary to decide what the least wrong approach is under the circumstances. In making such choices, we need not become afraid or confused. Whether our decisions relate to a career change, purchasing a home, or just normal business, we recognize that we do know through Science everything we need to know. As we acknowledge our spiritual oneness with God, omniscient Mind, we destroy the discouraging notion that we are without the guidance and wisdom required for a good decision.
