The future of Christian Science

From the May 1986 issue of The Christian Science Journal

In 1901 the New York Herald published this statement from Mary Baker Eddy: "The continuity of The Church of Christ, Scientist, is assured."The First Church of Christ, Scientist, and Miscellany, p. 342.

How could Mrs. Eddy be so sure of the future of the Church she had founded only a few years earlier? Perhaps she knew, better than anyone else could know, that the message that substantiates this Church is the revelation of God. And what God reveals, He protects, preserves, promotes, and causes to prosper.

The future of Christian Science and of the Church that bears its name is secure because it is in the keeping of God, eternal Life. Whoever sincerely lives the teachings of Christian Science increasingly realizes the divine authority of Science. So our fidelity makes a difference. The trials and victories of daily demonstration purify us, and the eternal reign of Christ in divine Science shines through consecrated lives.
