Poems

Step aside

From the May 1986 issue of The Christian Science Journal

When all human will is melting away,
and you have no more wish of your own,
stand back and let nothing remain
that can interfere with the powerful law.
Humbly listen until thanks come welling up
jubilating quietly and without words;
then the flooding of peace and harmony
will wipe out the dreary thoughts of fear,
and break the dream of suffering,
and in one instant—yet endless in eternity—
you feel embraced by the holiness of Spirit,
and you know your true being anchored in God.
