No weak links in the chain

From the May 1986 issue of The Christian Science Journal

According to an old saying, no chain is stronger than its weakest link. Whether applied to walls around medieval towns or to modern international organizations, the saying implies that alertness is necessary to detect any defective links and to strengthen or replace them.

The importance of a strong defense is most relevant to a student of Christian Science. Our Leader, Mrs. Eddy, admonishes each member of The Mother Church: "It shall be the duty of every member of this Church to defend himself daily against aggressive mental suggestion, and not be made to forget nor to neglect his duty to God, to his Leader, and to mankind." Manual of The Mother Church, Art. VIII, Sect. 6. She also requests her followers to give daily attention (see The First Church of Christ, Scientist, and Miscellany 237:12-14) to this: "Christian Scientists, be a law to yourselves that mental malpractice cannot harm you either when asleep or when awake." Science and Health, p. 442.

The foundation of an impregnable spiritual integrity, of physical as well as mental invulnerability, is the fact that God, divine Love, is omnipresent and omnipotent. As we realize this and express Love's love, we are protected from inharmony.
