FROM THE DIRECTORS

From the June 1986 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Virginia Sydness Harris, C.S.B., became the new Clerk of The Mother Church on March 24, 1986. A Christian Science teacher and practitioner from Detroit, Michigan, Mrs. Harris joined the Clerk's staff in 1985 in the dual role of Manager of Sunday School Activities and Superintendent of The Mother Church Sunday School. More recently she was asked to include the entire Church Activities office under her management. This service at headquarters—along with her experience in the field as practitioner, teacher, and member of The Christian Science Board of Lectureship—has provided excellent preparation for her new duties in the office of Clerk, as established in the Manual of The Mother Church by Mary Baker Eddy.

Our retiring Clerk, Beulah M. Roegge, C.S.B., has been asked to fill a new office, assisting The Christian Science Board of Directors as special assistant for lecture development, and working with the Board of Lectureship. Mrs. Roegge's experience as Clerk, as Publisher's Agent, as a member of the Board of Trustees of The Christian Science Publishing Society, as an Associate Editor of the Christian Science periodicals and as a Christian Science lecturer, uniquely fits her to coordinate and develop a broadened lecture effort.
