Giving gratitude to God for His tender care is very much a part of each day for me. However, putting this thank-you into writing has been postponed far too long! As a lifelong Christian Scientist, I feel that the purity, dedication, and courage expressed by my mother in her accepting and later taking a stand for Science were the greatest blessings in my life.
Many years ago I suffered from migraine headaches, which were very painful and usually lasted one or two days. These stopped permanently when fear of them was destroyed through the realization that in truth I could never even be subject to such a condition, because every function of my true being is governed by the law of God, the law of harmony and perfection.
Our two sons were both born at home, delivered by a doctor who understood our desire to rely on Christian Science and to be in the environment of our own home. Both births were quick and harmonious in every way, involving no medication. Study of Mary Baker Eddy's article "The New Birth" (see Miscellaneous Writings, pp. 15-20) brought much spiritual growth at this time. At the time of the first birth it became so clear to me that the only creator is God, not man, and that this child was His idea, unfolding in consciousness as His creation.
