Testimonies of Healing

When Christian Science was introduced...

From the August 1986 issue of The Christian Science Journal

When Christian Science was introduced into our family by a dear sister-in-law, I started reading the textbook, Science and Health by Mary Baker Eddy, thinking that I would read until I found out what was wrong with the book. Then I would discard it and withdraw our kindergartenage daughter from the Christian Science Sunday School where we had enrolled her. That was forty years ago. I am still daily reading and studying this book along with the Bible.

In the beginning of my study of Science I noticed that if our little girl had any physical problem, she would come home from Sunday School healed or greatly improved. Shortly after she began attending she was healed of being tired, a condition of which I had been aware from the time she was about a year old. Soon my husband and I were reading daily the Bible Lessons outlined in the Christian Science Quarterly. We were learning that God is the ever-available source of all good.

Every year I canned fruit for my growing family. During the Second World War, when sugar was rationed, each time I purchased sugar with my ration stamps I silently thanked God for His inexhaustible supply. When I took my sack of sugar home, I emptied it into a large canister I kept under my worktable. On canning days I refused to look at how much sugar was there and instead just dipped out what I needed each time. I was able to can all the fruit my family needed and did not run out of sugar once. I refused to measure my supply materially because I knew that God supplies all good always.
