Ageless Truth

From the March 1987 issue of The Christian Science Journal

A deep and growing appreciation for the enduring beauty and vitality of God's universe is the reward of those who refuse to accept the belief in aging and its false concepts of senility and failing faculties.

Prior to retiring from active participation in the business world, I found great satisfaction in assisting elder citizens who were settling into an established retirement community. My lifelong experience as a student of Christian Science was a great help. Though most of the people with whom I had contact had no knowledge of Christian Science (nor was this subject ever brought up), it was a wonderfully rewarding experience to present a brighter outlook and to help many deal with the fear of old age.

As difficult situations arose, I would find myself saying, "No problem." And I got to be known as the fellow who worked with solutions and not with problems. Explaining some aspect of spiritual being in language that each individual could grasp gave me the opportunity to help those in need of support and assurance. I never ceased to be grateful for a firm understanding of God's ever-present help and guidance.
