From the Board of Education

From the March 1989 issue of The Christian Science Journal

In December the 1988 Normal class was held by the Board of Education, as provided for in the Manual of The Mother Church by Mary Baker Eddy.

The teacher of the class, elected by The Christian Science Board of Directors, is Michael B. Thorneloe, C.S.B., of Sheffield, England, a practitioner and teacher of Christian Science, currently filling the office of Circuit Lecturer for the United States, Canada, Great Britain and Ireland. Mr. Thorneloe became interested in Christian Science when he was a young boy as a result of a healing he had experienced. He entered the full-time practice of Christian Science in 1962 and became an authorized teacher in 1967. He had earlier graduated from the University of Sheffield, with a Master of Laws degree, served in the Royal Air Force, and for ten years was a senior partner in a private law firm. Mr. Thorneloe, who has served The Mother Church in many capacities, was formerly a member of The Christian Science Board of Directors.

The 1988 class was composed of students who will provide new teachers for Argentina, Australia, Canada, Chile, England, Federal Republic of Germany, France, India, Mexico, Puerto Rico, Republic of South Africa, Sweden, the United States, and Uruguay. Students in the United States came from Arkansas, California, District of Columbia, Florida, Illinois, Massachusetts, Minnesota, New York, North Carolina, Oklahoma, Oregon, Rhode Island, Texas, and Wisconsin.
