Testimonies of Healing

From the June 1989 issue of The Christian Science Journal

I often like to begin my prayer for myself with this spiritual truth from Genesis in the Bible: God made man in His own image and likeness (see Gen. 1:26). God's spiritual man—the real identity of you and me—is perfect. This is a profound realization, and one that heals.

While painting a house I had contracted to do, I lost my footing and fell headfirst onto the concrete drive a few feet below, breaking the fall with my left arm. Later, when I resumed my work, I found it impossible to continue because of the pain in my arm as I reached upward.

I stopped and went to lunch early. Then I sat for a while going over a number of Bible quotations and some references from Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy that I had learned. I realized a bit more fully that because man is truly created in God's likeness, we can turn to this truth in order to confront and overcome injury or pain.
