Utilize the Christ-power

From the June 1990 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Comforting assurance of the ever-present Christ and its healing purpose is clearly evident in these words from the Christian Science Hymnal: "The Christ is here, all dreams of error breaking,/Unloosing bonds of all captivity." Hymnal, No. 202. This promise offers great inspiration for us to expect days filled with opportunities to utilize the hereness of the Christ-power—opportunities to prove God's law of healing and its direct application to human needs.

The effect of Christ is to heal. This is the power that was the basis of Christ Jesus' healing works. It operates as a law of annihilation to anything that would oppose good, and it replaces discordant material circumstances with harmonious fact. In the Glossary of Science and Health, Mrs. Eddy explains Christ as "the divine manifestation of God, which comes to the flesh to destroy incarnate error." Science and Health, p. 583.

How can we feel or prove the presence of the Christ when we are sick or in trouble? When we pray humbly, yielding human will to the divine direction of one infinite Mind, God, who imparts perfect, spiritual ideas as the sun imparts light and warmth, the light of the Christ illumines our experience. We feel its love and peace and joy. This gentle spiritual force heals and blesses us as it permeates our being.
