Polished performers

From the June 1990 issue of The Christian Science Journal

When we attend the theater, see a good movie, or enjoy a concert, we appreciate the professionalism and accomplishments of the performers. But do we think about the hours of preparation that have enabled those performers to work with such complete assurance?

In a way, we are performers, too—demonstrators of the Science of Christianity, working daily to achieve a wider understanding of this Science and learning how to use this understanding in order to heal ourselves and others. Our guides are the Bible and Science and Health, the Christian Science textbook. In this book Mrs. Eddy writes: "Question. —How can I progress most rapidly in the understanding of Christian Science?

"Answer.—Study thoroughly the letter and imbibe the spirit. Adhere to the divine Principle of Christian Science and follow the behests of God, abiding steadfastly in wisdom, Truth, and Love." Science and Health, p. 495.
