The walls must fall!

From the May 1991 issue of The Christian Science Journal

In every nation, men have fought
for human liberty;
And since God's justice must prevail,
then all men will be free.

In every age, the heart has yearned
for human hopes of peace;
And since God's will must be fulfilled,
then slavery has to cease.

In every tongue, the call has come
for human law to bless;
And God's command must be obeyed,
it cannot be suppressed.

Throughout all human history
remains a Christly fact—
A truth that cannot be denied,
shut out, put down, set back:

Since God is All,
the walls must fall!

Remember, friends, how long ago—
for Joshua at Jericho,
for Jesus in the sealed-up tomb,
for Peter in the prison room,
for Paul and Silas in the cell—

Remember how the walls all fell?

All obstacles to liberty
must melt along the way,
Like shadows of the darkest night
dissolve in light of day.

All barricades to freedom
must crumble into dust,
Those fences of old prejudice,
those curtains of mistrust.

All roadblocks of oppression,
all barriers of fear,
Must vanish into nothingness
before Truth's presence here.

Your God has guaranteed you free,
so rise up, stand and shout—
Obstructive bars will be removed
within and then without—

Since Love is All,
the walls must fall!
