About nine years ago I had a particularly beautiful opportunity to witness the healing effects of Christian Science in a way that demanded my further spiritual growth.
One morning before daylight, I took my new puppy outside for a few minutes, then settled him back in his pen and decided to return to bed. However, I forgot that I had closed the door to the other part of the house when taking the dog out. A rude awakening came as I slammed into the solid wood door. My face and nose smashed against the door, but what I really felt was the severe pain in my lower back. The pain was so intense that I could hardly make it back to bed, and when I did I found that I could neither sit nor lie down.
Although it was very early, I called a Christian Science practitioner and in tears related my story. It was decided that I needed to be where I could be cared for while prayerful treatment was continued. The practitioner and a Christian Science nurse helped me make arrangements to enter a nursing facility for Christian Scientists, and they drove me there.
