Giving testimony

From the July 1991 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Christ Jesus' last instruction to his disciples before the ascension was "Ye shall be witnesses unto me." Acts 1:8. The astonishing growth of the early Christian Church is testimony to the disciples' obedience to their Master's commission to heal the sick and preach God's word. The spirit of the risen Christ permeated and impelled their lives.

As active Christians, we too are trustees of our Master's legacy for this age. Scientifically Christian healing witnesses to the practicality of God's love in people's lives; it records the appearance of Christ in everyday events; it shows that what we're saying about Christ, Truth, is not merely one more religious point of view but is provable fact.

When we turn to God in prayer, we feel the power of His Christ rising in us, lifting us to the clear realization that God, Spirit, is the only Life of man. This growing understanding of man's true identity as wholly spiritual and Godlike has a healing effect.
