I was talking with a friend recently about the many obstacles that would keep us from writing for the Christian Science periodicals and sharing the healing experiences we have had through prayer. After this conversation I immediately began to write the following testimony, knowing it is through healings that we see Truth demonstrated!
There are several healing experiences that were turning points for me as a student of Christian Science. The first took place when I was a freshman in college. I was excited about going to a holiday dance, but I discovered the day before the event that I had a contagious disease that had been reported as being prevalent in the area where I lived. Health officials were notified, and I was quarantined. At the same time I began to pray, and a Christian Science practitioner was also called to pray with me.
Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy states, "Truth handles the most malignant contagion with perfect assurance." I did not doubt that a healing would come. I based my prayers on the spiritual fact that God creates only good, therefore only good is "contagious" or passed from one to another.
