Throughout my fifteen years in Christian Science I have had proof that we can trust the power of the Christ, Truth, to heal discord, right from the beginning of our "adventure" in studying this marvelous Science.
We have had healings in our family of a broken nose, jaundice, seasonal colds and flu, and headaches. There have also been healings involving character, such as a lessening of selfishness. The list is nearly endless.
Some time ago I was troubled with a swollen gum surrounding a loose tooth. I asked for treatment through prayer from a Christian Science practitioner, who reminded me that I am in truth an idea of divine Mind, God, who expresses Himself only in perfection, and that therefore I, as the reflection of God, couldn't express imperfection. The practitioner also pointed out that in Mary Baker Eddy's book Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures we learn: "Matter cannot be inflamed. Inflammation is fear, an excited state of mortals which is not normal. Immortal Mind is the only cause; therefore disease is neither a cause nor an effect." Also I thought about these well-known words from First John in the Bible: "There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear."
