"Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed? . . . For your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things. But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you." These words always remind me of the decision my husband and I made to take class instruction in Christian Science. I believe they were part of a weekly Christian Science Bible Lesson we were studying around the time we made this decision.
Prior to the decision to take class instruction, I had grown spiritually, and was healed of the smoking habit, dependency on prescription medications for menstrual problems, and migraines. Our son had been healed quickly of ivy poisoning, and our daughter was healed of an injured hand.
At first it did not seem to be a good year for us even to think about taking time away from our other responsibilities. I had just started a new job, and it might have appeared presumptuous of me to ask, even without pay, for the two weeks off required for class. Also I had never been away from my children for that length of time. My husband's business was in a period of great adjustment. He ran an apartment complex where many renovations had to be completed that very summer. As many apartments as possible needed renting to produce some income, and we had a hundred vacant apartments.
