I am grateful for healings over the past years; some small and others of more consequence. Three come to mind.
Late one Sunday evening about twelve years ago, while rushing to finish a project, I accidentally jabbed a utility knife deep into the side of my right knee. My family and I immediately turned to God in prayer. Although I don't recall any problem with pain, and the bleeding stopped soon after, I was quite fearful of serious damage.
My wife got in touch with a Christian Science practitioner, who reminded me of my perfection as the image of God and consequently my insusceptibility to harm of any kind. He continued to pray—as my wife, children, and I did—to understand my perfection and freedom from accident as the perfect, spiritual expression of God. Although I don't now remember the exact quotations or the thoughts from the Bible or from Mrs. Eddy's writings that we worked with, I do remember that the fear soon lessened and I had a quiet night. I didn't drive the ninety miles to work the following morning, but I did drive later that afternoon.
