Spiritual healing has been going on in my family for over fifty years. My mother found Christian Science through a neighbor, who kindly shared it with her at a time of great need. My mother's own testimony of healing was published in the Christian Science Sentinel.
About fifteen years ago I was healed of the effects of an automobile accident. I had stopped my car to make a left turn into our driveway when another car hit me from behind, causing much damage to my car.
My head and neck felt very odd, as though something was out of place; however, I was able to answer a policeman's questions. He was concerned about my welfare, but I assured him I would be all right. At first I felt resentment toward the woman who had hit me, but I quickly saw the need to correct that kind of thinking. Loving concern for her well-being would be the Christian attitude to express. As I prayed, a line from one of Mrs. Eddy's poems came to me: "His arm encircles me, and mine, and all" (Poems). This healing thought helped me to continue praying to see that we are all safe in God's care. I found another comforting idea in the book of Acts: "For in him we live, and move, and have our being." This was a wonderful reminder that my real being as God's reflection had never moved outside of God's love and could never be damaged or destroyed.
