"Behold, I make all things...

From the May 1993 issue of The Christian Science Journal

"Behold, I make all things new," says Revelation 21:5. This describes the effect Christian Science has had on my thinking.

When I heard about it, I was in a state of mental turmoil. I was ready for the Comforter promised by Christ Jesus. At this time I became acquainted with a woman who was a Christian Science practitioner. The gentle and powerful love that she radiated made a deep impression on me.

Shortly before, I had received Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy. I devoured it immediately, understanding almost nothing but nonetheless sensing the magnitude and significance of this book. I also read copies of The Herald of Christian Science, printed copies of Christian Science lectures, and gradually many of Mrs. Eddy's writings, including Retrospection and Introspection, which caused me to glimpse the magnanimity of this author. My enthusiasm grew from book to book. Filled with joy and gratitude, I read them to this day. A new dimension opened up for me. It was like a promised land that I was now privileged to enter.
