I attribute my happy and healthy childhood to the fact that I regularly attended a Christian Science Sunday School and had the support of my parents, who were active Christian Scientists.
It was only natural for me to want to give my children Christian Science as my mother did for her children. I had completely harmonious and virtually painless deliveries of both my son and daughter. Both times I had studied diligently Mrs. Eddy's writings on "scientific obstetrics"; Science and Health states, "To attend properly the birth of the new child, or divine idea, you should so detach mortal thought from its material conceptions, that the birth will be natural and safe." We also read on this same page: "The new idea, conceived and born of Truth and Love, is clad in white garments. Its beginning will be meek, its growth sturdy, and its maturity undecaying."
These wonderful truths were beautifully evident in that the children continued to be healthy and happy throughout childhood. Sickness was always quickly healed, either through my own prayer or through the work of a Christian Science practitioner.
