LEADING THOUGHT INTO THE 21ST CENTURY

The Bible and Science and Health: living and sharing the discovery

From the July 1993 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Most people want to be able to help and comfort others. If we pray about it, there's no question that we'll find opportunities to do so. And when an opportunity becomes apparent, we'll also see that we can depend on God's power and love to provide the needed comfort itself.

Christ Jesus life was rich with such contact with others. He once was walking with his disciples through a large crowd pressing around him when "a woman, which was diseased with an issue of blood twelve years, came behind him, and touched the hem of his garment:for she said within herself, If I may but touch his garment, I shall be whole. But Jesus turned him about, and when he saw her, he said, Daughter, be of good comfort; thy faith hath made thee whole. And the woman was made whole from that hour." Matt. 9:20–22.

We can benefit tremendously from the Master's example. As we walk through the crowds in our own lives, we can love mankind deeply, and pray for our own opportunities to spiritually discern and feed those hearts that are hungering for the truth.
