A thank-you from Christian Scientists in South Florida following hurricane Andrew

From the February 1994 issue of The Christian Science Journal

It's been a year and a half since hurricane Andrew swept through South Florida. Much restoration work has gone on since that time. Perhaps this is a good time to pause and express gratitude for the wonderful support that has poured in from all over the world for those whose lives were thrown into disarray. The following excerpts from letters speak for themselves.

From First Church of Christ, Scientist, Homestead, Florida, to The Mother Church

We wish to express our appreciation to you for sending [a representative from The Mother Church] down to appraise our situation here in Homestead. . . . The Mother Church representative was so loving and so helpful to us, and her coming and being with us gave us such a sense of oneness and bonding with The Mother Church.
