From the February 1994 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Monroe Evening Times

Excerpt from the Monroe Evening Times (Wisconsin) August 18, 1990 by (referred to in the above article)

"'Healing the body is not the major purpose of Christianity,' Wellington said [Chuck Wellington, First Reader in 1990 at First Church of Christ, Scientist, Monroe], but the destruction of physical and mental disease was an important step in proving His (Jesus Christ) teachings about the relationship between God and man.

"'Healing supplied the necessary evidence to validate the higher goal of Christianity to overcome sin and aid in the spiritual regeneration of mankind,' Wellington said."
